Websites

I am based in Camberley which is on the Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire border.

Geography is no barrier to success as we have seen in recent times and we can work together remotely.

These days with the advent of such reliable tools as Zoom, Microsoft teams, Facetime, Whatsapp video etc it is not a necessity. If you are keen to meet though we certainly can!

This really depends on the final package you choose.

For instance the number of pages, the features, whether it is a personal or business website etc.

I will get a first draft page over to you within a working week.

This is of course absolutely no problem!

I include up to three revisions of the site within the price.

It certainly will!

All packages will be optimised for all device types (i.e. tablet, phone, laptop / desktop). They will work in landscape or portrait, as well as on any browser and operating system.
My business model is straightforward – you and I work together directly and I design and build your website alone. This is advantageous as there is no risk that communications between members of a large team and the lead developer can arise.

I give impartial advice and will never try and ‘up-sell’ products.

All of my prices are inclusive of VAT and therefore there are no nasty surprises of actually having to pay 20% more at the end of the process!

Organic traffic refers to visitors who have discovered you via a search engine rather than being explicitly directed by a ‘normal’ link such as a website / social media page / word of mouth.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process by which we push websites as far up the Google search rankings as possible.

It is a notoriously fiddly process as Google keep their search algorithms highly secret, but with the right knowledge it is possible to increase the ranking and drive more organic traffic to your website.

Although it is designed for Google due to their huge web presence, it does have benefits for other search engines as it demands best-practice of development. This is always rewarded by search engines, regardless of which one.
Google Analytics gives deep insight into how your website is performing.

Using this facility we can examine where traffic is coming from, how long they stay on pages, which content is performing well, how fast the website is and many other KPIs. Using this information we can adapt your website as we move forwards to optimise the customer experience.

All data Google aggregates for analysis is completely anonymous so it does not track an individuals behaviour.

Therefore the privacy of individual customers is retained and they can experience your website without being tracked.

As you can probably see from the above, this is mainly useful for businesses. There are limited elements that could be useful for a personal website – for instance examining the loading time of pages.

Google My Business is the process of literally putting you on the map!

Once this is completed successfully you will appear on Google maps as well as on the ‘normal’ search results when people search for relevant terms that guide them to your website.

This is critical for businesses that only work in the local region and cannot work remotely, such as window cleaners, builders etc.

Typically I would recommend Search Engine Optimisation, Google Analytics and Google my Business for all business types

As described above, a limited number of features of Google analytics can be useful for personal websites.

General

It is a steep learning curve if you don’t have any experience with such projects. A rough guide to the steps involved in building the website is on the ‘Process’ page.

It should be noted though that if you do decide to take this path, the costs of hosting, anti-piracy,  development SEO etc software will quickly add up and may not save you money in the long run.

This may sound peculiar as I also have these costs, but I have professional packages that can be used for multiple websites and the costs to me do diversify.

Google and search engine optimisation do require significant experience to achieve desired goals.

One must remember that a website does need to be maintained for which you may wish a developer to assist

A website has many advantages over social media. It dramatically increases the presence of the business and we can drive ‘organic’ traffic to it.

It is still wise to have a social media presence as this is another tool that can be used to drive traffic to your website.
Absolutely! I will supply documentation and guidance as to how you would achieve basic editing such as adding pictures, events, news, testimonials and suchlike. I would only recommend this to those who are comfortable learning new software packages.

For anything structural or design related I would advise that you contact me and we can discuss further.

Yes, I certainly can!

For a fee of £50 per hour I can assist you with any updates and deal with any issues that arise.

Employment

Competition between candidates for many job roles is high – in particular for new graduates. A website alongside a traditional CV is a great way of distinguishing yourself from other candidates. It allows oneself to showcase achievements in a less formal way and can reflect your personality in a way that a CV will never be able to.

A traditional CV / Curriculum Vitae / Resume is limited to text and no other media types can be displayed. Obviously a website does not have these limitations!
It is critical that the website and your CV are consistent with one another. If necessary we can craft your CV and website together.

During my time working in the financial district / The City / Square mile of London I saw many CVs and have a comprehensive understanding of what constitutes a superb CV from a merely ‘good’ CV. Therefore I consider myself qualified to help you craft the most competitive package possible.
